ASTM D86 Atmospheric Distillation Apparatus and ASTM D1160 Vacuum Distillation Apparatus
Petroleum is a complex mixture of various hydrocarbons and very few non-hydrocarbons. Therefore, petroleum has no fixed boiling point, but only the range of its boiling point can be measured.
For heavy petroleum products such as wax oil, heavy diesel oil, and lubricating oil, their distillation range is above 350℃. When the atmospheric distillation method is used for distillation, the distillation temperature reaches 360~380℃. It will be decomposed by heat and its properties will change. Since the energy required for the escape of molecules on the liquid surface decreases with the decreased pressure, the interfacial pressure can be reduced to lower the boiling point of hydrocarbons, avoid thermal decomposition of high molecular weight hydrocarbons, and ensure the properties of the original material. Distillation under pressure is vacuum distillation. Use the atmospheric and vacuum pressure temperature conversion chart to convert to normal pressure distillation temperature, and the distillate amount is expressed in volume percentage.
Distillation range is an important quality index for evaluating the vaporization of liquid fuels. It can show the boiling point range of liquid fuels, and can judge the content of the light and heavy components in the oil composition, which is of great significance for production, use, and storage.
