Petroleum Products Color Tester
The instrument is suitable to determine color of various lubricating oils and other petroleum products as per SH/T 0168-92 “Test Method for Color of Petroleum Products”. The test methods are as follows: fill test sample into color comparing tube and compare sample color with standard color to ascertain its color number. Please see the attached color number comparing sheet to find out the similarity between color number of the instrument and color number in standard GB/T6540.
Instrument structure and main performance:
The light source is a 220 V, 100 W, with temperature of 2750±50 K grinding milk white light bulb. After filtering color by milk white glass and sunshine filtering glass, the spectrum characteristics of light gained from sunshine is similar to it.
The standard light will change into two parallel lights, which is similar in size, trough plane reflection mirror and prism. The parallel lights will irradiate on sample in the color comparing tube on the color glass of standard color dial evenly and respectively.
There are 26 pieces of Φ14 light holes. And standard color glasses having 1~25 color number are installed in the 25 of these holes in sequence. The 26 hole is blank. The color dial is rotated by a hand wheel installed at right side of instrument to choose the correct color during color comparing test. The standard color comparing glass on the color dial should be calibrated by standard color comparing liquids.

Principle of chromaticity measurement:
Inject the sample into the colorimetric tube, turn on a standard light source, rotate the standard color dial and handwheel, while observing the eyepiece
Observe and compare the samples, using equal color codes as the color codes for the samples. If the exact matching color cannot be found for the sample color, and
If it falls between two standard colors, report the higher of the two colors - one color, and add the word "less than" in front of that color number.
The glass color standard is divided into 16 color codes, arranged from 0.5 to 8.0 values. The larger the color code, the darker the color.
If the color of the sample is darker than the standard color of No. 8, add 15 samples (by volume) to the diluent mixture, measure the color of the mixture, and add the word "dilution" after the color number.
The determination principle of SH-T1068 method is basically the same as GB/T6540, with the main difference being the SH-T1068 standard glass
Glass color chips are divided into 25 color codes, while GB/T6540 is only divided into 16 color codes.
