Cold-Cranking Simulator ASTM D5293
Cold Cracking Simulator (CCS) is a professional equipment that complies with ASTM D5293 standard, used to determine the starting performance of engine oil in low-temperature environments. Its core function is to simulate the high shear conditions during engine cold start, evaluate the flowability of the oil within the range of -35 ℃ to -5 ℃ by measuring the apparent viscosity of the oil, and ensure that the engine can still start quickly and provide effective lubrication under extremely cold conditions.
Test Principle:
Shear simulation: Simulate the high shear environment between the piston ring and cylinder wall during engine cold start by rotating the rotor at a certain shear rate in the stator.
Viscosity calculation: Based on the relationship between rotor speed and driving current, combined with calibration oil data, calculate the apparent viscosity of the oil.
