ASTM D482 Ash Content Tester
Ash content tester is a specialized equipment for determining the ash content of petroleum products, suitable for non ash additive oils such as distillate oil, residual oil, crude oil, lubricating oil, and paraffin wax. The ash content tester cannot be used to determine the ash content in petroleum products containing ash forming additives (including additives containing certain phosphorus compounds), lead containing lubricating oils, and waste engine crankcase oils. The instrument uses a high-temperature muffle furnace as the core and determines the residual ash content through the process of "sample combustion → high-temperature ashing → cooling and weighing".
Test method:
Take ashless filter paper as ignition core. Ignite the sample in the crucible to make it burning to ash and carbon residue. Heat the carbon residue at 775℃ in the high temperature furnace to make it convert to ash. Then cool down and weigh the mass.
Functions of each component:
Box-type heating furnace： The carbon residue will convert to ash in the furnace at 775℃.
Temperature control stand： It controls the heating temperature of the box-type heating furnace.
Electric heating plate： It is used to heat sample to make the water evaporated and sample burned.
Crucible： It is used to place the sample
